JORDAN SMITH
FILMMAKER · PHOTOGRAPHER · VISUAL STORYTELLER
A different perspective on the game.
I’m a Dallas-based filmmaker and photographer focused on capturing people, culture, and the moments that happen between the expected.
My work lives at the intersection of documentary filmmaking, editorial imagery, and visual storytelling. Over the past several years, I’ve worked behind the scenes with world-class artists and creative teams, documenting live performances, intimate moments, and the energy surrounding the people on stage.
I’m interested in the full story—not just the moment everyone came to see, but everything that makes it matter.
BUILT FOR THE MOMENT
Professional sports are about more than what happens on the court. They’re about personality, preparation, pressure, community, and the culture that surrounds the game.
I see an opportunity to tell those stories through a visual approach that feels immediate, cinematic, and authentic. From the intensity of game night to the quieter moments behind the scenes, my goal is to create work that makes people feel connected to the team.
My background in live entertainment has taught me to work quickly, anticipate moments, adapt to unpredictable environments, and capture compelling content without disrupting what's happening in front of the camera.
EXPERIENCE THAT TRANSLATES
For three and a half years, I worked as a photographer and filmmaker for Erykah Badu, documenting live performances and behind-the-scenes environments while collaborating with a creative team.
That experience shaped how I approach visual storytelling: stay observant, understand the environment, build trust, and recognize the moments that other people might miss.
My work spans photography, filmmaking, live-event coverage, and editorial storytelling. I’m comfortable moving between capturing a moment as it happens and developing footage into a finished piece with a distinct visual identity.
I bring a documentary mindset, an editorial eye, and a strong understanding of how to make visuals feel intentional without making them feel manufactured.
WHAT I BRING TO THE MAVERICKS
Game-day storytelling: Fast, instinctive capture in high-energy environments.
Player and personality-driven content: Visual storytelling that reveals the people behind the jerseys.
Behind-the-scenes filmmaking: Access-driven content that makes fans feel closer to the team.
Social-first video: Engaging, visually distinctive content built for the platforms where fans spend their time.
Creative versatility: The ability to move between documentary, cinematic, editorial, and spontaneous visual styles.
End-to-end execution: From capturing footage through editing and delivering finished content under tight deadlines.
MY APPROACH
I believe the strongest sports content doesn't always look like traditional sports content.
It can be raw, intimate, energetic, cinematic, or unexpected. It should reflect the personality of the team and the city it represents.
Dallas has its own identity, and the Mavericks are a major part of that culture. I want to help tell that story in a way that resonates with longtime fans, reaches new audiences, and gives people a reason to keep watching long after the final buzzer.
LET'S MAKE SOMETHING THAT MATTERS.
I'm excited about the opportunity to bring my experience, perspective, and creative instincts to the Dallas Mavericks and contribute to a team that is building its story every day.

This link is from a performance day. Days like these are fast paced and probably similar to game days with tons of action. I was able to deliver this video the next day. It showcases my ability to tell a beautiful story out of a hectic day.
This link is a shoot I recently did with CEO, Suzy Batiz. The project was for an image rebrand and launching her new social channels. It showcases my range of branding and matching a clients goals. You can also tell how I put my subjects at ease and bring their natural personalities to light. I find the best angles to highlight my clients best features.
